MCYU Certificate of Completion

MCYU Certificate of Completion

Are you seeking opportunities to further develop transferable skills that are not always readily available through your home department? Learn how to engage young learners using your own research and develop valuable skills that employers seek.

The McMaster Children and Youth University (MCYU) Certificate of Completion helps to facilitate skills in knowledge mobilization, knowledge translation, communication, leadership, problem-solving, time management, teamwork, organization and adaptability

Each graduate student is required to attend 1.5 days of training on October 12 and 13, where they will gain some foundational elements related to MCYU’s approach, community engagement, knowledge translation/mobilization, and the art of presentation/performance. This will be an in-person training opportunity held in the Wong room at the Mills Library on Thursday Oct. 12 (9:30 am -3:30 pm) and Friday Oct 13 (9:30 am – 1:00 pm).

This in-person training will provide foundational elements so students can then participate in the experiential/hands-on opportunities:

  • mentorship
  • live workshop creation
  • presentation of workshops and
  • creation of an online resources

MCYU will issue a Certificate of Completion to students who have completed

  • the foundational training,
  • one of the experiential/hands on opportunities, and
  • a reflection on their experience within the program.
